FS-Air goes live!

FS-Air goes live!

Well after many months of planning and even more weeks of recording, editing, designing, and coding, FS-Air has finally been released! FS-A Launched at 12am (EST) Saturday the 29th with episode 1 "Coding in school" being the first episode available to the general public! And a new episode being released every Friday!

As you guys can probably tell I'm really psyched about FS-A finally going live from all the exclamation marks I've used in the post so far! It's for good reason though, since as far as my knowledge goes and a few searches tell me, FS-A is the first website of its kind! I'll explain.

Dynamic content using jQuery and XML

Yeah! All of the content on FS-A is controlled via jQuery, the most amazing JavaScript framework out there, and XML. All of the episodes' data is stored in one XML file and is called and parsed by the jQuery whenever needed! Examples, when the page first loads, all of the content area is completely empty, but when the DOM load jQuery calls up the XML and grabs the last entry (the latest episode) and loads it up, which is how the site always has the latest episode loaded! But don't think that's all I've done. You can change the playing episode by simply clicking on any of the links at the bottom of the site and that episode will be loaded into the page!

Like I said, as far as I can research, FS-A is the only site on the web that draws content like this from and XML file and jQuery! Expect a tutorial to hit FS in the near future!

Episodes

Until the 5th, the only episode open the listeners is "Episode 1: Coding in School" but that doesn't mean that's the only episode we have completed! In fact, there's a link to listen to and download [/hint] episode 2 already on FS-A! But I'm not telling where, it's secret for those who want to listen more!

Here's a list of all our episodes thus far and what they're about:

  1. Episode 1: Coding in School
  2. Episode 2: Website Start-up & Launch
  3. Episode 3: Generating Traffic
  4. Episode 4: Developing to Standards

As you guys can see I'm pretty ecstatic about FS-A finally going live so I hope you all listen in and support us!

Hey, I'm the founder of Fire Studios, and thus, have my hands in everything that goes on here at FS. I manage the content, moderate the comments, design everything, code everything, provides a lot of articles, host the official podcast FS-Air, and run/manage most of the other sites in the FI family. Often times I'll come to be working on so many things that I hardly accomplish much, but that's what makes me who I am.
